New Mediterranean restaurant celebrates “Staying Alive” in down economy

Naan & Kabab, etc. celebrates their 1st anniversary this weekend with a “Staying Alive” party and Valentine’s Day Bash. The restaurant owner, Chef Maurice Afraimi, opened Naan & Kabab one year ago with the goal of bringing his passion for Mediterranean cuisine to our Northern Nevada community. Despite economic difficulties, Naan and Kabab has stayed in business and steadily grown its loyal fan base.

Chef Maurice holds that the key to saving money in this economy is creating an environment in which employees are happy to work, since productive employees consistently produce more for one’s money. To that end, he strives to be as transparent and honest as possible with his staff to cultivate a shared responsibility for all aspects of the business – quality food and service at a low price.

Chef Maurice uses social networks (like Facebook and Yelp) and blogging to spread the word at minimal cost, and spends time each evening to meet with each of his customers to express his gratitude and assess the quality of their experience.

While Chef Maurice admits that they’ve got a long way still to go, he and his staff are thankful to still be in business and to have jobs that they enjoy – and they want to share that enthusiasm and hope with the community.

Naan & Kabab will celebrate Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights, with music and Mediterranean-style entertainment starting after 8 pm. They will feature two special 4-course dinner options in addition to their regular menu. There is no cover. Reservations are encouraged.

(Reno, Nevada) January 30, 2009 – Naan & Kabab, Reno’s newest and only Mediterranean Restaurant, across from the Peppermill Hotel, will be opening on Saturday, February 14. The restaurant’s hours will be 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., 7 days a week.

The food is brought to you by a master chef whose soul purpose is to take you on a culinary voyage to touch the coasts of the Mediterranean Sea and beyond.

Naan & Kabab is owned and operated by Chef Maurice Afraimi.

Chef Maurice is an accomplished chef with over forty years of experience and a former culinary instructor for Job Corps in San Jose. Chef Maurice has a unique energy and passion about him. In 1994, he lost his job when one of his employers considered him too old to be a chef. However, when applying to be the culinary instructor in San Jose, the director at the time said it was his energy and drive that separated him from the rest.

Even though many restaurants serve appetizing plates, Naan & Kabab serves healthy and flavorful food for a great price, and they plan to support the local arts and entertainment by hosting various events. Not only will the food and entertainment impress you, but so will the service. The chefs and servers will greet you at the door with a warm welcome.

With their time, energy and passion, Reno has been graced with their presence. It is definite that their dishes will whet your appetite.
