My wife, two children, and I just moved to Reno from out of state. We love mediterranean cuisine. This restaurant is truly a gem. The atmosphere is wonderful, the backround music adds to the ambiance without overpowering a table conversation. The food is exceptional. We have lived in other cities and visited other countries; the menu is very authentic. In addition, the staff was friendly and Chef Maurice was most hospitable as he visited the tables to ensure that we were enjoying are experience. Half way into our meal, I told my wife that I just found my new favoite restaurant.
Thank you Chef Maurice! See you soon.

I came into the establishment on a Saturday for lunch. I can honestly say it was the best experience/meal I have had in a long time. They had a 3 course lunch special for 9 dollars. It started with a greek salad or soup option, the salad was amazing, perfect blend of oil and balsamic vinegar with the freshest of veggies.this was accompanied with pita bread and a chutney that was so fresh and fragrant I finished it quickly. The entree arrived, I had ordered a gyro and it was brimming with the juiciest meat and tomatoes, the accompanying tziekie sauce was fresh and creamy with just a hint of dill. The true creme de la creme was desert. I dish of safron and pistachio infused ice cream with freshly made backlava on top. I can honestly say I’m nbot a sugar sweets fan but this was by far the best desert I have ever had in my life. It was wonderful that the head chef Maurice came over to the table and explained the place and the food beforehand . He is actually a retired celebrity chef and taught at one of the elite cooking schools in California for years. Please check them out, its more then Mediterranean food with options for every palette.

We went to this restaurant tonight, and I just have to say… amazing. I’m fairly familiar with Mediterranean food, and expected (based on the website) quality, but nothing I hadn’t seen before.

Instead, we had amazing service and incredible food. The naan is wonderful, and I could eat the Vegetable Combination every single day and not get tired of it.

Our trip up to Reno was an obligation– your restaurant made it a pleasure! Thank you for the wonderful meal.

Dinner was good. Service was good. Food was authentic. Chef came to the table to inquire about the food and make sure everything was perfect. This is what a local business should be.

Just had the pleasure of visiting Naan & Kabab for the first time. In Reno from out of state, had two colleagues recommend the restaurant as it was within walking distance of my hotel. When I visit a dining establishment, I look at all of the things that make a place great: cleanliness, atmosphere, a menu of sufficient variety to satisfy the palette but not so big as to overwhelm, service, and of course quality of the food.

Upon arriving at Naan and Kabab, I was a bit apprehensive as it is situated on the side of a very busy street and has utilized the shell of what appears to be an old fast food establishment. Upon entering, I was impressed with the warmth and cozy atmosphere of the establishment. A young man, Tom (who was also going to be my waiter), seated me at a comfortable table in the middle of the dining floor. I was one of four tables seated at the time, with one table comprised of women of Mediterranean descent. Service was attentive but not obtrusive, giving me plenty of time to ask for recommendations and get questions answered by Tom.

I lived in Morocco for almost three years when I was young and have always appreciated Persian food. My starter course was a small dish of Baba Ganoush, a dish I have not seen on a menu in years. The dish was freshly made and reminded me of the dish our housekeeper used to make for us overseas. It was delicious, with the perfect blend of roasted eggplant, pine nuts, and garlic. If you are unsure if you will like this dish, as it is not a common menu item, request a reduced portion size to allow you to sample it. It was wonderful with the naan (roasted flatbread).

When ordering the entree, I was torn between the combination chicken and beef Koobedeh (others near me ordered this and they seemed to be very pleased with the portion size and the flavor) and the Istanbuli Polo. Tom recommended the former dish if I had a large appetite or to select the Polo if I wanted to sample something very distinct and a house specialty. I selected the Polo and was very impressed with the presentation, flavors, tenderness of the beef, and particularly the tomato-saffron sauce. For the uninitiated, Istanbuli Polo is a traditional Turkish dish comprised of fire-roasted pieces of chuck steak atop saffron-infused basmati rice accompanied by the tomato-saffron sauce. Julienned zucchini, tomato, and asparagus were fire roasted and placed on the side of the dish. The flavor of the dish was subtle yet complex, with a wonderful blend of spices and techniques. An instant favorite that I will definitely order again.

To complete my meal, even though I was sufficiently sated but on the recommendation of one of my colleagues, I had a small serving of The Awesome Dude (not making this up, look up their menu online!). Just imagine, the subtle flavors of saffron and pistachios in an ice cream together, topped with crumbled baklava. My interest was immediately piqued upon the initial recommendation and I was beyond impressed.

As I was relishing the wonderful flavors of the dessert, I was pleasantly surprised to have Chef Maurice come to my table to express his appreciation for my patronage and to ensure I had a satisfying dining experience. Chef was very gracious and truly appreciated my feedback. Wonderful gentleman who has a true passion for the craft. The service, which can oftentimes ruin an excellent dining experience, was impeccable. As I wrote previously, attentive but not intrusive. Pricing was very modest, with the total for my meal (reduced sized appetizer, entree, and reduced sized dessert) totaling less than $20.00. This is one of those places you want to tell everyone about but are apprehensive to do so because you don’t want the dining experience to change. I understand they received a rating of 4.5 stars in a recent local poll and it is well deserved. My highest recommendation if you like Mediterranean food or just have an adventurous spirit. Enjoy!

My wife and I are vegetarian and ALWAYS find a great meal on the menu! My favorite is the Falafel with Roasted Red Pepper Hummus. Don’t forget to start with the Combo Veggie Platter as an appetizer. Thanks for another GREAT meal Maurice!

We tried Naan & Kabab for the first time on 11/17/2011 for my wife’s birthday. She wanted to try somewhere new and we had driven past this place a few times thinking we should try it. Well let me tell you what, “This place rocks”. The service was very good and the food was even better. The Cornish Game Hen was done to perfection and so were the Garlic Prawns. Chef Maurice was friendly and was concerned about all his customers. We will definitely be back for more. We will try the Lamb next time. I can’t wait. Thanks.

We went to Naan and Kabab for my Gradfathers 77th birthday. He doesn’t eat out very often being pretty old school, but he requested to eat here. We were a party of 7, we showed up 45 minutes early and still got seated almost right away. It was awesome, Chef Maurice came out to make sure all our dishes were prepared right, and they were. We had a little bit of everything and it was all good. I can’t wait to go back and try something new. Thanks, Aimee
